History
At the turn of the 20th century Karl Derler, the grandfather of today’s company holder Oskar Derler, started his career as a rope maker in Anger. His son Alois took over from him in 1930. Alois learnt fortuitously about the production of mattresses and in around 1950 started making mattresses with two employees. This was the humble beginning of the first Styrian mattress factory.
ADA’s founder died in 1970 (the name of the company is derived from Alois Derler, Anger). By then 300 workers and employees worked in the company that predominantly produced upholstered furniture. His son Oskar Derler took over the family business and has made it become the biggest furniture company in Austria.
